FAQs

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments and classes may be booked online via our Book an Appointment link. Alternatively please contact us on 0131 449 6128 to discuss your individual requirements.

Do you have card facilities or do I need to bring cash?

We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Do I need to bring anything with me for treatment and what should I wear?

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.  It may be useful to bring shorts for examination of your legs or back, although we hold some spare shorts in clinic if needed.  For some treatments we may ask if you would be comfortable to undress to your underwear.  Modesty towels will be used.

If you have any recent x-ray or scan results please bring these along with you.

Is there a waiting list for treatment?

No, we can often see patients within a few days of their enquiry and on some occasions, we may be able to see you on the same day you contact us.

How long is a treatment session?

Your initial treatment will last approximately 1 hour.

Follow up treatment sessions will last between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on clinical need.

Do I have to see my GP before I come for treatment?

Unless you are going through your private medical insurance, there is no need to see your GP before you come, just give us a call.

How many treatments will I need?

This will depend upon your diagnosis. Your physiotherapist will discuss this with you at your initial assessment and give you a guide as to how many treatments would be beneficial to you. In terms of massage therapy and personal training, usually the client and therapist/PT will work together to agree on what would work best to achieve your goals.

What sort of conditions do you treat?

We treat all conditions relating to soft tissue, bones, joints, respiration/lungs, neurology, balance, dizziness and headaches.  If you are unsure about whether we can treat your problem, please call us – we are here to help you.  More information about our treatments can be found in our ‘Services’ section, however if you can’t see the treatment you think you require listed, please call us and we will do our very best to advise you.

Can I use my medical insurance?

We deal with most major insurance companies and you would need to notify them prior to attending treatment in order for them to authorise your claim.  You may require a letter of referral from your GP.

You will need to supply us with your policy number and your authorisation number (given to you by your insurance company when you contact them) and we will send the bill to your insurance company directly.

Dependent upon the insurance company and your individual policy, you may be liable to pay an excess or a proportion of the treatment fee if your insurance company does not meet this in full.

Do I have to be ‘sporty’ to come for physiotherapy?

Not at all!   We treat everyone.

Can I bring my child/children to my appointment?

Yes.  We understand that you may need to bring your child/children with your appointment.  We have a small selection of books and toys to keep them amused.

Do you treat children?

Yes, we treat everybody from babies upwards.

Will you speak to my Doctor about my problem?

The treatment and care you receive at Prime is completely confidential.  However if you would like us to speak to your Doctor about any aspect of your condition/treatment we are happy to do so with your prior consent.
